The unique mechanic of all Guild Wars 2 Ranger builds is the animal companion. A ranger can have up to four companions, but only one can be deployed at a time. Each companion has three skills that the animal uses automatically, and one species skill that is activated by the ranger. The mechanic bar contains the interaction commands that allow the ranger to activate the species skill, as well as to control the animal’s target and to change the active companion.
Burning Combos with the Axe and Torch
Weapon Set: Axe, Torch
Focus: Damage, Combos, Conditions
About: This Ranger build is a little unconventional using an Axe and Torch to burn and bleed your foe with conditions. We will also be using signets for all of our utilities and buffing them through our traits to maximize their potential. Once you get used to this build it is a ton of fun and truly very effective. Using your skills correctly and selecting the traits discussed below, you will be able to create your own burning combos to help melt down any foe you face!
Marksmanship with the Longbow for DPS
Weapon Set: Longbow, Shortbow
About: This Guild Wars 2 Ranger build makes use of the range of the Longbow with the Shortbow as our weapon swap to do some pretty nice damage. This build is for PvP so you can tweak it a little if your going to be doing PvE. The Longbow will do the most damage when at max distance so its best used in fights when you know you can kite or just stay ranged. The weapon swap to the Shortbow will be very useful when the target gains some ground on you. The weapon abilities do not have many conditions but we will gain a few through our pet, utilities, and traits.
Using Signets to Buff You and Your Pet
Weapon Set: Shortbow
Focus: Pet, Conditions, Damage
About: This Ranger build for Guild Wars 2 will boost your pets abilities and in turn boost your own after choosing some traits. Using the Shortbow will help keep enemies at bay by providing abilities to cripple and bleed allowing us to kite when we see fit. This is a also good time for cute pets to start munching on legs for a great distraction. Your Signets are what tie everything together and provide the boosts for both you and your pet.
