This is a great build for the Warrior in Guild Wars 2 that gives you burst damage while dual wielding axes. This build is an all out offensive machine so don’t look to this for a lot of survivability. The objective is to burn down your opponent as fast as possible using high critical damage, burst damage, precision (which increases your critical hit chance), and backing it up with as much power as possible. We will do this by building adrenaline as fast as possible and using the burst skill Eviscerate. I feel this build will be very strong whether in PVP, WvW, or Dungeons.
We already know what weapon set we will be using, dual axes. The abilities all have pretty quick cool downs, the longest being the last ability called Whirling Axe which we will be using the least since its more of an AoE. Dual Strike will give us the most damage but has the second longest cool down. This ability is great because in addition to the high damage it also provides us with Fury, which is a boon that increases the critical hit by 20%.
The heal skill to use with this build is Healing Surge. Not only does it heal but also builds adrenaline which is our main focus.
Our utilities will also focus on critical hit, critical damage, power, and then adrenaline. Adrenaline is a resource unique to the warrior. Each attack made by the warrior grants one “strike” of adrenaline which accumulates into three stages. Each stage takes a greater number of strikes to fill than the previous. Building adrenaline enables the use of the Burst skill. In this build, the Burst skill is Eviscerate. Fueling the adrenaline to a higher stage will create a more powerful Burst skill.
The first utility will be the shout “For Great Justice” which will grant Fury and Might to yourself and allies. Our next utility is called Signet of Fury which passively improves Precision and actively grants adrenaline. The last spot will be filled by the Dolyak Signet for some defense. It passively reduces incoming damage and when activated grants stability.
For the elite spot, we definitely want the Signet of Rage for the passive adrenaline building and active boons of Fury, Might, and Swiftness.
Now on to spending our trait points. Our main focus will be in Discipline, 30 points, providing us with Prowess (increasing critical damage) and Brawn (increasing burst damage). In the Discipline trait line, be sure to pick up Heightened Focus, Sharpened Axes, and Adrenal Reserves. With Heightened Focus, you gain a 2% critical-hit chance for 1 stage of adrenaline, 5% for 2 stages, and 9% for 3 stages. Sharpened Axes is a trait that when we critical hit with an axe, we gain adrenaline. Finishing off with the Adrenal Reserves which will reduce the cost of our burst skill Eviscerate.
The next trait line to focus will be Arms, 30 points, which increases Precision (increasing critical hit chance). The first ability to grab is Deep Strike. This will give us a big +40 precision for each unused signet. Since we used all signets as our utilities including the elite skill, our critical chance will get a nice boost. Go for Rending Strikes next for a 33% chance to cause Vulnerability on critical hits. Furious is the last skill and great for what we are trying to accomplish because it increases adrenaline on critical hits.
Lastly, we spend the rest of our points in Defense, 10 points, providing us some toughness. Pick up Embrace the Pain for the ability to increase your adrenaline each time you are hit.
Using our points in this manner will give us optimum damage and critical hit damage for fast work of the enemy. Playing with this kind of style will be real fun especially if your running around with allies who provide extra healing and support. All of our traits really focus on building our adrenaline. Some people may want to trade off some of the utilities for a shout or banner and that is completely up to you just remember the +40 precision for each unused signet!
At the start of a battle, you will want to activate your signets of Fury, Might, and Rage providing you with plenty of boons. Attack damage will come from your regular skills and chain skill combos. Build up your adrenaline as fast as you can, then dump Eviscerate (our burst skill) on the target for massive damage.
